49ers writer Kyle Bonagura just dropped this interesting tidbit.
The #49ers will sign former Stanford FB Owen Marecic (just released by Browns), per league source. A Harbaugh favorite from the Farm.

A lot of people wanted to see the 49ers draft Marecic, but he ended up going to the Cleveland Browns. It did not work out for him there, and he found himself looking for work as nobody claimed him off waivers.
This raises some interesting questions about the 49ers roster plans. They have a cost-efficient fullback in former seventh round pick Bruce Miller. I'd be curious to see how the team would look to utilize Marecic, aside from basic competition with Miller. As Christian Gin pointed out on Twitter, it is worth noting that Marecic played both fullback and linebacker while at Stanford. The 49ers actually also used Chad Hall on defense in their preseason finale. Maybe that's their new efficiency formula!
Also, this is just speculation, but it's worth thinking about:
The signing of Marecic could mean something is up with Anthony Dixon.

This means the 49ers have to make one more roster move above and beyond their cut down to 53.
