49ers vs. Broncos, Preseason Week 1: Welcome to the 2013 season!

The 49ers open their preseason against the Denver Broncos. We take a look at pertinent details related to the game, as well as provide an open thread for discussion.

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The preseason is officially here! We've still got a month until real games start, but this is some kind of football, so that's something, right? I'm sure many will start to zone out when we get past the starters, but I know the hard core folks will stick with me!

The 49ers have plenty of position battles to deal with today, and through the rest of the preseason. While we might get a few hints of things today, we are unlikely to get any succinct answers. A strong performance today can be cut down to size by a poor performance next week. In the same fashion, a poor performance today can be quickly forgotten with a big performance next week. We'll see what the game brings.

We'll have plenty to break down after the game, but for now, here's your first game thread. Here is a rundown of pertinent information related to the game.
