Yesterday was the day that the bubble players fear most. The team went from 75 to 53. There weren't many surprises. Most of the surprises to make it were already presumed to be safe based on previous moves. Nate Stupar may be the biggest shock of all the final 53.
As for the cuts, Brian Jennings, 13-year veteran and lifelong 49er was released in favor of undrafted rookie long snapper Kevin McDermott. He's been with us through thick and thin and is truly a class act. Others cut who had decent preseasons were Chad Hall and Lavelle Hawkins at receiver and Jewel Hampton at running back. Austin Collie, whom many had tabbed to make the grade at receiver after his signing (myself included) was cut.
And time for some links...

Owen Marecic
Rumor has it that the 49ers are going to sign Oweb Marecic. He's an ex-player of Harbaugh's from Stanford. He can do it all. He didn't play particularly well for the Browns, so I'm not sure what the 49ers are expecting from him. But Harbaugh reportedly loves him. | Report: 49ers will sign a Harbaugh favorite in FB Marecic (Branch)
Other News
Pro Football Focus gives us their take on Thursday's demolishing of the San Diego Chargers. Cam Johnson was the player of the game, and with good reason.
