Fooch's Update: The 49ers have announced the roster move, and it is indeed Will Tukuafu getting the axe, but it was waived/injured, not a basic release. He could revert to injured reserve if not claimed off waivers.

The San Francisco 49ers are expected to make a roster move today to clear space for the recently suspended Demarcus Dobbs. The 49ers were given a one-day roster exemption when Dobbs came off the reserve/suspended list, and Matt Barrows is reporting they will now release defensive lineman Will Tukuafu.

The departure of Tukuafu would not be surprising. The 49ers deactivated him on Sunday against the Packers, while fellow reserve defensive lineman Tony Jerod-Eddie was active. Tukuafu worked as a fullback in heavy formations last year, but the 49ers seem content with the numerous blocking options already on the roster.

The 49ers seven inactives this past week included Tukuafu, RB LaMichael James, WR Chris Harper, QB B.J. Daniels, WR Jon Baldwiin, G Joe Looney, and LB Nate Stupar. With the return of Dobbs, my guess is Jerod-Eddie moves over to the inactive list. Considering the 49ers went with only four wide receivers on Sunday, there are not a lot of options for deactivation.
