The Pro Football Hall of Fame has announced the nominees for the class of 2014, and the San Francisco 49ers are well represented. Edward DeBartolo, Jr., Roger Craig and Bryant Young are the most prominent 49ers on the ballot, but there are a few more. They include:

RB Ricky Watters (1992-94)
LB Charles Haley (1986-91, 1999)
DE Charles Mann (1994)
NT Fred Smerlas (1990)
DT Ted Washington (1991-93)
LB Kevin Greene (1997)
K Gary Anderson (1997)

DeBartolo and Haley were both finalists last year, while Craig finished as a semifinalist. Bryant Young did not make the list of semifinalists. He will long be remembered as one of the great 49ers, but I really would be surprised if BY earned induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. There is no shame in not earning a nod, and I would hope we'll see him in the 49ers own Hall of Fame some day.

We've got some interesting first-time nominees this year. The most notable first time nominees among the players would probably be WR Marvin Harrison, LB Derrick Brooks, RB Warrick Dunn and OT Walter Jones. The first timers also includes S Rodney Harrison, LB Zach Thomas and Shaun Alexander.

You can view the entire list of nominees at the Pro Football Hall of Fame website.
