The San Francisco 49ers play their first nationally televised prime time game in Week 2, as they face the Seattle Seahawks. NBC coverage means virtually anybody with a television in America gets to watch the game. Just as important though, is that playing on NBC also means there will be a free, legal online stream of the game if you are without a television.

For some time now, NBC and the NFL have worked out a deal where all Sunday Night Football games are streamed live and free via SNF All Access on NBCSports.com. Unfortunately it is not ONLY available in the United States and U.S. territories.

Even if you watch the game on television, SNF All Access actually provides some additional value to your viewing experience. For example, the game features multiple camera angles you can access during the game. The online service also features DVR functionality and a variety of analysis through NBC personalities.

Now, we just need the NFL to get its act together and develop this opportunity across the board. It does not need to be free. I think plenty of people would pay a decent amount to watch NFL action online. I'm just amazed the NFL hasn't figured out a solution to spread the action further.
