The San Francisco 49ers are less than 24 hours removed from their ugly 29-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, but we've got an early line on the 49ers Week 3 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts. Early offshore lines have the 49ers sitting as a ten point favorite. The line has varied around nine to eleven points over the last day.
While the line is a bit high, it's not entirely surprising. The 49ers were manhandled on Sunday, but the Colts also struggled in losing to the Dolphins 24-20. The Colts are 1-1, and are probably lucky to even at that point having barely escaped with a home win over the Oakland Raiders. It hasn't been a strong start, and the folks at Stampede Blue are none too pleased.
Under Jim Harbaugh, the 49ers have never lost back-to-back games. They had that frustrating streak of not winning three straight last year, but they did snap that in the playoffs. This game provides a significant opportunity for the 49ers to bounce back and get focused. While a win is always good, I would not mind seeing them clear that spread by a comfortable margin. Winning by 5, 10 or 20 really doesn't matter in the long run, so long as they win, but a statement victory would be really nice.
