NFL power rankings, Week 3: 49ers slip a little

As we head into Week 3 of the 2013 NFL season, we've got another look at NFL power rankings. The 49ers will slip after Sunday's loss, but how far? New to Niners Nation? Sign up here and join the discussion!

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

The newest set of power rankings are making their way out, and as expected, the 49ers are slipping a little bit. The 49ers were decisively beaten on Sunday, and while it was to one of the best teams in the league, the loss still requires a downgrading in the rankings. SB Nation only dropped the 49ers one spot (I swear it wasn't me!), while CBS dropped the 49ers to No. 6.

All the rankings are not out yet, so for now I've updated the ones that have been released, and I'll continue updating as the morning moves along. What I actually found most bizarre so far is that the Patriots are still getting love even after two stinker performances. The Patriots have won their first two games by a combined five points. Winning the first two is obviously a plus, as well as making them divisional wins, but these are the Bills and Jets. I suppose they could be better than we think, but the Patriots have still looked pretty miserable on offense.

For now, the Broncos and Seahawks are looking pretty solid thus far. The Seahawks did struggle winning in Carolina, but bouncing back with that win over the 49ers is a pretty big deal (and Seahawks will let you know about it!). There are currently eight 2-0 teams in the NFL. The Broncos and Seahawks lead the NFL in point differential, although the 2-0 Chiefs are not too far behind them in that. The Chiefs won at Jacksonville and at home against Dallas. I found the Cowboys win pretty impressive, even though plenty doubt the Cowboys. More to come on that though in the next edition of Chefs Watch!
