This weekend's game just got a heck of a lot more interesting. Per Adam Schefter, Jim Irsay and others, the Indianapolis Colts have acquired Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson in exchange for a first round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. The Colts starting running back was Ahmad Bradshaw, but last week, the team lost Vick Ballard for the season, and there were some questions as to how they would address the situation. Well, situation addressed.
Trent Richardson has a ton of talent, but wasn't quite maxing it out in Cleveland. He was far from a bust, but a change of scenery could probably do him good. And for the Colts, it does a serious job of solidifying their running back situation.
The question now is what to expect of the Colts this Sunday. Do they just stick Richardson back there with what would have to be a fairly basic understanding of the playbook? I can't imagine he would be inactive before such a big game for the Colts. The 49ers have a stout run defense, but it has been gashed in the past. The whole thing raises plenty of questions about what to expect this Sunday.
Head over to Stampede Blue as they update this developing situation. We'll have plenty more as well.
