The San Francisco 49ers are a few days away from their Week 3 contest with the Indianapolis Colts, and they have a few injury question marks heading into the weekend. The coaches and players met with the media, and we were able to get various updates. You can check out our Twitter 49ers media list for all the details.

The big news is that Eric Reid continues to make his way through the NFL's concussion protocol. He has to remain asymptomatic through to Sunday, but if he does, it would seem like he would then be a lock to play. We'll continue updating this each day.

49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio informed the assembled media that he expected Justin Smith and Ray McDonald to be fine come game day. Both got yesterday off from practice as Smith is dealing with a shoulder thing, and McDonald is getting through a sprained ankle. I imagine they will sit out much of practice this week to get back to 100 percent for the game.

Vernon Davis was wearing wrapping around his left hamstring, and it seems unlikely that he will practice today, or probably tomorrow either. Greg Roman had the money quote, saying "I don't know what kind of blood he has going through his body but it heals really well." That strikes me as a fairly positive sign for Sunday.
