The 49ers are back for Week 3, facing the Indianapolis Colts in a pretty key Week 3 matchup. The 49ers are looking to bounce back from a tough loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football. Week 3 does not generally feature many "must win" games, but the 49ers need a good showing today. The defense looked solid for much of the Seahawks game, before discipline problems and blown coverages cost them late. Of course, the offense did not help matters, struggling to do much of anything with any sort of consistency.

The Colts are 1-1, and showing the inconsistencies that some expected of a team that made the playoffs last season in spite of a negative point differential. They're a talented team, but they're dealing with some injuries to their defense. It will be interesting to see how they elect to attack this 49ers offense given how the Seahawks and Packers shut down the 49ers traditional rushing attack.

This will be your first quarter game thread, and we'll be back with a new thread each quarter.
