Vernon Davis tells Ian Rapoport he is playing

The San Francisco 49ers have not yet released their inactives report, but it sounds like we have a bit of an answer with regard to tight end Vernon Davis. He apparently told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport "Oh yea" when asked if he was going to play. Rapoport tweeted that, along with a mention that he is not 100 percent but is going to go anyway. We'll get confirmation in the next 20 minutes.

Davis was inactive last week against the Indianapolis Colts, a week after injuring his hamstring in the 49ers Week 2 loss to the Seahawks. He sat out all three practices last week, was a game-time decision, and eventually was deactivated. This week he was limited in practice, but at least participating.

The big question now is how effective he can be. He was listed as questionable this week, and with the concerns over hamstring injuries, we don't know how he will be impacted. Of course, just the threat of Vernon is enough to make a significant impact. Last year, even when Colin Kaepernick was not throwing in his direction, Vernon was able to clear out space for the other receivers, and this is something Anquan Boldin would very much like to see. This will be a storyline to track all night.
