Mindi Bach had a chance to speak with 49ers safety Donte Whitner following the Thursday Night Football win over the St. Louis Rams. We've got some video above, and the best line has to be about needing to get on the JUGS machine. The 49ers had several opportunities for interceptions, only to have them bobbled away.

Whitner's night was most amusing, considering he dropped the easiest interception he might ever have, and then made a crazy circus grab on Tramaine Brock's deflection. It's all woulda, coulda, shoulda, but imagine if the 49ers had been able to convert more of those potential turnovers?

And the turnovers really are the key for this team moving forward. The numbers can fluctuate, but the 49ers need to get that turnover differential back into positive territory. The 49ers have done great things the last couple years thanks in part to forcing turnovers. That boosts the field position battle, and gets the defense off the field before they start getting worn down on a drive. The 49ers defense was getting worn down like crazy Week 2 and 3. We saw the offense step it up in Week 4 with the run game, but the key moving forward is building on the turnover battle.
