While we are all incredibly disappointed our San Francisco 49ers are not taking part in Super Bowl XLVIII this Sunday, it doesn't mean we can't still benefit from this in other ways.
The folks at Odds Shark released their full list of prop bets for the upcoming Super Bowl, and it is pretty crazy. You can vote on a lot of the normal stuff spread, over/under and various yardage markers. As is the case with the Super Bowl, you can also wager on the color of the Gatorade shower for the winning coach, the length of Renee Fleming's National Anthem, and various aspects of the Halftime Show.
However, it gets even crazier than that. Some of the random ones include:
SUPER BOWL XLVIII CROSS SPORT MATCHUPS - What will be higher?
Total goals scored West Brom vs Liverpool -115
Peyton Manning TD Passes -115
SUPER BOWL XLVIII CROSS SPORT MATCHUPS - What will be higher?
Gold Medals by the USA in the 2014 Sochi Olympics +120
First Half Total Points by the Broncos -150
SUPER BOWL XLVIII CROSS SPORT MATCHUPS - What will be higher?
Alex Ovechkin Points vs Detroit EVEN
Seattle Seahawks Sacks vs Denver -130
I would never do something quite so immoral as wager money on a football game. But hypothetically, if I had 50 units of fake currency, and was going to place five wagers with ten units apiece, what would you all have me bet on? Swing through the entire odds list, and feel free to pick and choose what you think works as a wager.
We've heard all sorts of complaining about the cold weather in the NY/NJ region. With that in mind, I could wager on whether or not it will snow (+300 Yes/-500 No), the over/under on kickoff temperature (32 degrees), and the over/under on the lowest temperature (28 degrees). Oh, and at 25/1 odds, I can bet the power will go out. I have to say, I'm kind of tempted.
Over at SBNation.com, I already broke down why I'm taking West Brom/Liverpool total goals over Peyton Manning touchdowns. I'll be putting together a few more posts like that, so if you have suggestions for wagers, I'll try and write something up on it.
Go to town and let me know what you think I should "faux" wager on. If I end up in the black, I'll invest the "money" in prizes for the site.
