49ers QB Colin Kaepernick spent some time chatting with KNBR Thursday morning. We take a look at his specific comments about his contract and his offseason Miami training.

A few 49ers players are in New York this week to take part in various Super Bowl week festivities, and that means we get plenty of radio interviews and newspaper interviews. Colin Kaepernick is making the rounds this week, promoting his various endorsement deals and talking 49ers football. He conducted several interviews today, including those with ESPN and KNBR, among others. And for those automatically concerned about his clothes?

Kap looking sharp! And those are not his Beats by Dre headphones, in case you were wondering.

He has been getting a lot of the usual questions. The storyline a lot of national media are covering relate to his thoughts on Richard Sherman's rant. There are various responses to that, but he discussed a couple more interesting topics with KNBR.

According to Kap, he will be heading down to Miami on Monday to start working out at a place Frank Gore and Anquan Boldin recommended. Quinton Patton has already said he'll be joining Kap in Miami.

More importantly, he had some comments about his contract situation. He acknowledged wanting to be paid fairly for what he does compared to his peers, but he also recognized the need to not suck up too much cap space. He talked about bringing back guys like Anquan Boldin and Donte Whitner, and what that could mean for the team moving forward.

The 49ers have a specific plan in place for free agency, but we will have to wait and see how it plays out. Whitner has been a team leader, but Boldin showed his value this season for Kaepernick. I think Whitner ends up walking, but I have a hunch the team works something out with Boldin. We'll do some more research into potential numbers, but his value seems pretty clear. Now it's a matter of the two sides figuring out where they each stand on the spectrum.
