Fooch's Update: The 49ers WON!

The San Francisco 49ers are on the road in Week 6, as they face the St. Louis Rams on Monday Night Football. The battle of longtime rivals gets the ESPN treatment, which means it will be televised across the country for those of you with ESPN. It also means we get Mike Tirico and Jon Gruden in the booth, with Lisa Salters handling sideline work. Gruden is a little over the top, but I enjoy Tirico's play-by-play work.

This game starts the toughest travel stretch for the 49ers. The team opened the season with 3 of 5 games at home, but they now head off on a stretch of 4 of 5 road games. In reality it's more just two quick road trips if you will. They face St. Louis and Denver on the road, head home for their bye and then host the Rams, before wrapping up with road games at New Orleans and the New York Giants. It's not a great stretch, but it could be a lot worse.

The 49ers have won two straight, and will look to build on it against a Rams team that is inconsistent but dangerous. Austin Davis took over at quarterback midway through their Week 1 game, and he has looked fairly sharp for an improved offense. The 49ers have struggled in the pass rush, but their secondary has been strong thus far. I am curious to see how the Rams game plan against that with Brian Quick and Jared Cook in particular.
