Fooch's Update: Willis has been ruled OUT for the rest of the game.

The San Francisco 49ers have taken a 17-14 lead on the St. Louis Rams, but they may have to finish this game without linebacker Patrick Willis. The 49ers all world inside linebacker suffered a toe injury late in the first half, and remained in the locker room for the Rams first offensive drive of the second half. The 49ers announced that Willis is questionable to return.

Rookie Chris Borland has moved into the starting lineup in place of Willis. He is next to Michael Wilhoite, who replaced NaVorro Bowman after the latter tore knee ligaments last January. It is safe to say that now that the Rams know Willis is out of the game (for now), they will start attacking Borland. The 49ers defensive front is solid around Borland, but Borland has been limited to special teams play in the regular season.

The 49ers are back out for their second drive without Willis. We'll see how Borland responds.
