Golden Nuggets: Silence Of The Rams

New, comments

The Niners must have stayed up late watching the San Francisco Giants NLCS game vs the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday night. The team started their Monday night game slow. Very, very slow. The Rams, led by QB Austin Davis took a 14-0 lead in the 1st quarter. They almost took a 14-3 lead into the half until a combination of the Niners offense waking up and Rams defense falling asleep led to an incredible play. Colin Kaepernick hit Brandon Lloyd for a 80 yard TD down the sideline with 14 seconds left in the 1st half. The Rams defense completely fell asleep on the play. Colin's pass was a beauty that hit Lloyd in perfect stride and all Brandon had to do was give a little hop at the end to avoid being tripped up by a trailing defender.

Once the 2nd half started, the Niners offense scored 2 more touchdowns with Colin completing passes to Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree. The offensive line kept Colin upright all night long. Kap finished the game with 343 yards, 3 TDs, and his best game of the season so far. The rushing game didn't have the type of game we thought they would have facing one of the worst rush defenses in the league. But with Kap and his receivers playing the way they were playing, it did not matter. The QB and his WRs seem to be building a connection. He hit 8 different receivers during the game.

The defense did not start out well either. But they eventually got into the game. They sacked Austin Davis 5 times with Dan Skuta and Ahmad Brooks recording 2 each. They only forced one turnover, but it was the turnover to clinch the win. Rookie Dontae Johnson picked Austin for a pick 6 and the win. They kept another team under 100 yards rushing and pitched a shutout after the 1st quarter until a field goal late in the 4th quarter. The team is on a run of 3 victories in a row and will be heading to Denver for #4.
