Seahawks trade Percy Harvin to New York Jets, per Jay Glazer

The New York Jets have made a rather stunning move, sending a conditional draft pick to the Seattle Seahawks for wide receiver Percy Harvin. That escalated quickly.

This certainly came out of nowhere. According to Jay Glazer, the Seattle Seahawks have traded wide receiver Percy Harvin to the New York Jets for a conditional draft pick. That's what I call some breaking freaking news.

Mike Garafolo said the team had been "nosing around" to try and deal Harvin, and finally found their taker. That being said, WTF? Site decorum is off because this is pretty damn surprising on a Friday afternoon. Harvin has scuffled along this season, averaging only 6.0 yards per reception on 22 receptions. He has averaged 8.4 yards per carry on 11 carries.

Is this a salary dump? Was either side overly unhappy with his production? I honestly don't know. When's the last time we've seen a player traded so suddenly?

This leaves the Seahawks with a wide receiver corps including Doug Baldwin, Jermaine Kearse, and Ricardo Lockette. I'm sure others will be worked in, including draft pick Paul Richardson, but that is a pretty big departure for this team.

I think this just about sums up this trade in my mind.
