The Niners decided to watch history being made rather than play a football game. Just kidding! They did play, but were just overmatched on this historic night. Peyton Manning passed Brett Favre for most TDs in a career. Peyton dissected the Niners LBs and secondary. Tramaine Brock had a rough night coming back from his injury. With a injury ruling out Patrick Willis, the team's defensive leader, it was always going to be a tough task against this offense. Michael Wilhoite and rookie Chris Borland were just not going to cut it against Manning.
The offense, especially the offensive line played horribly. Kap was sacked 6 times including a beautiful move by Damarcus Ware that completely fooled Joe Staley. The running game only had 62 yards. Crabtree, Boldin, and Davis all had drops. The bright side for the offense is the continued good play from Brandon Lloyd and Stevie Johnson. Stevie led all SF receivers with 79 yards. These two receivers should give Kap the confidence to be able to trust their playmaking abilities.
It's good for the team to take this loss before the bye week. They can rest up and heal before a very important 2nd half run. Reinforcements are on the way for the defense with Aldon Smith, Patrick Willis, and possibly NaVorro Bowman coming back. Aaron Lynch has continued to impress and it should excite Niner fans with the possible pass rushing tandem of Lynch and Smith. They could cause havoc for opposing QBs very soon. The bye also helps the offensive line rest up. With Daniel Kilgore out for the season, Marcus Martin is most likely his replacement. Anthony Davis Mike Iupati can heal from his concussion. Hopefully the team leaves the bye and hits a long win streak to catch the 1st place Arizona Cardinals.
