Golden Nuggets: Reinforcements cannot possibly arrive soon enough

Thursday, October 23, 2014 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of 49ers links from around the web.

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning everyone, or is it still bad morning? I'm not sure how I feel myself, and the cocky and obnoxious Bronco fan that lives down the street is not helping matters. Anyways, Sunday Night was not fun at all. To be honest, I switched over to Walking Dead after it was 42-10. It was the first time I hadn't finished a non preseason game in probably a decade, and a lot of that was the dark ages of Erickson, Nolan, and Singletary. What I noticed watching the game and has been backed up in the BASG article was that the 49ers were playing basic basic defense against Peyton. Now thats not to say that complex defenses work against him any better. After all, the Patriots have been successful in the past by lining up really basically and just beating the Colts/Broncos. It's possible that the 49ers tried that, but my money is on all the injuries and inexperience forcing their hand a little.

The good news is that the 49ers are expecting reinforcements after the bye. There are even rumors that Aldon Smith could be back early from his long suspension. Which if you remember, was what I thought would happen waaaay back when everyone thought  he would get two games. That's right, I'm a genius, I know it. Anyways, Aside from Aldon - Patrick Willis, Mike Iupati, Chris Culliver, Jimmie Ward, Chris Cook, and Marcus Martin are all expected to be ready for the Rams game on November 2nd. After that, NaVorro Bowman, Marcus Lattimore, and Glenn Dorsey could all be back with the team in the next month or so. So yeah, the loss to the Broncos sucked, and we all wish that Bronco fan down the street from me would shut up, but there is reason for optimism. To the links!
