For a Niners bye week, football was not too good to us Niner fans. Both the Cardinals and Seahawks won their games. The Cardinals moved their record to 6-1 and the Seahawks moved to 4-3. But if that didn't go the Niners way, their health might have. The Niners welcomed back Glenn Dorsey today at practice and are expected to welcome Marcus Lattimore to practice on Wednesday.
The Niners don't have to be active during the trade deadline. The team is expected to welcome back Patrick Willis, Chris Culliver, and Jimmie Ward with the return of Glenn Dorsey this week. Tramaine Brock was able to get another week to rest from his injury. This is the healthiest the secondary could be since Week 1. We are still awaiting news on Aldon Smith. Reports surfaced saying that his suspension could be cut. No new news on the return of NaVorro Bowman. But when he finally comes back, the defense will finally be at full strength. Having these players back is better than any trade they could muster. A stout defense adding key players is a good feeling for the team.
This Sunday, the team welcomes the St. Louis Rams at home to finish off their season series. The Niners beat the Rams on Monday Night Football 31-17. They started the game off slowly by falling behind the Rams 14-0 in the 1st quarter. From the 2nd quarter on, they outscored the Rams 31-3. The Niners will expect to start the 2nd half of the season with a win and build up on that momentum. They need to catch the 1st place Cardinals and still have 2 crucial games vs. those pesky Seahawks up north. Having healthy players back could make a world of difference.
