Fooch's Update: The 49ers WON!
The San Francisco 49ers host the Kansas City Chiefs this week, in a game featuring the return of Alex Smith, Marcus Cooper, and A.J. Jenkins. The big reunion at Levi's Stadium will air on CBS, and features the "No. 1" crew of Jim Nantz, Phil Simms and Tracy Wolfson. That crew means solid national coverage, but unfortunately, we will not see full national coverage. The Jets and Chargers are playing at the same time, and for some reason, CBS thinks the northwest, parts of the Midwest and Florida are filled with Jets fans.
Must Reads
The chatter around this game is mostly connected to the Alex Smith story, but there's so much more to it. Both teams are 2-2. The 49ers are coming off a big home win over the Philadelphia Eagles, albeit a rather ugly one. The Chiefs are coming off a near perfect dismantling of the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football. The Chiefs face a slightly shorter week, but I also wonder if they will have an emotional letdown following that big win. Will they be a step slow, or are they on the upswing?
The 49ers stand to be without Vernon Davis, and as we know, they are winless without their tight end. If he does not play today, can the 49ers snap that streak? That could be the biggest question of the day.
