Golden Nuggets: Tough Road Ahead

Wednesday, October 8th, 2014 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from the Internet

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

At a 3-2 record, the Niners head out on a streak of 4 out of 5 games away from the hot temperatures at Levi's Stadium. It all starts on Monday Night in St. Louis against the Rams. Following that game, the team heads up to Mile High to face Mr. 500 Touchdowns and counting. They then have a bye week on October 26th. They come back home for a game with the Rams before heading to New Orleans and finally heading to New York to face the Giants.

It's always tough to win games on the road in the NFL. I think the team should take care of the Rams this Monday. They have to keep pace with the Cardinals and especially the Seahawks. The game against the Broncos will be a tough one. The Broncos just put up 41 points against a very good Cardinals defense. To have a chance in this game in Denver, the offense will have to convert touchdowns, not field goals. The home game against the Rams will be tough, but they should win. The away game in New Orleans will be difficult as we know the Saints are a much better team at home than away. And hopefully the refs don't get in the way this time. The game in New York will be tough depending on how the Giants are playing. Is Eli throwing picks like charity or is he the guy who beat Tom Brady twice in the Super Bowl? I think most Niner fans would be ok with a 3-2 record in that stretch, but they would need at least a 4-1 record to stay in the running for home field advantage.

It looks like Aldon Smith will be back for the New York game and that's good news for a team not applying too much QB pressure. He's a playmaker and a player of his ability is always a welcome addition.
