The San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants released their Thursday practice participation reports, and we are starting to get a better idea of where players stand. Chris Borland practiced without the blue non-contact jersey, and was listed as full. Vic Fangio said he should be able to play Sunday, so this is an expected development in the practice report.
Additionally, Frank Gore was upgraded from limited to full. Justin Smith continues to get some rest as the team heads into the back half of the schedule. Dan Skuta and Ray McDonald were listed as limited. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said he did not expect Skuta to play on Sunday, but did not say anything about McDonald. My guess is McDonald will be fine.
Giants running back Rashad Jennings was once again limited, but is expected to play. According to Tom Coughlin, Jennings will split carries on Sunday with Andre Williams. One Giants beat writer speculated it might be 60-40 for Jennings, although that was mostly based on Coughlin saying Jennings would not get the "full, full load". I guess we'll find out exactly what's what on Sunday. The Giants run game has been abysmal without Jennings. He is not a superstar back, but he was averaging 4.4 yards per carry before he got hurt.
