Golden Nuggets: Is it still revenge more than two years later?

Thearon W. Henderson

Good morning everyone. The 49ers end the last of their cross country trips Sunday morning in New Jersey when they face the Giants. At 5-4, the 49ers are nowhere near out of the woods yet. If I were to guess, 11-5 is the lowest record I would feel safe making the playoffs. So that means the 49ers can only lose one more game over the rest of the season and still comfortably make the playoffs. With two games against Seattle, and the season finale against Arizona, I would prefer not to waste that loss against the mediocre Giants.

Speaking of the Giants, is revenge after more than two years still revenge? I will never forget the feeling of the soul sucking defeat in the NFC championship after almost a decade of irrelevance. That loss hurt more than any I have ever experienced. Even more than the Superbowl the year after, or the defeat by Seattle two years later. And for that reason, I still haven't gotten over my hatred of the Giants. At this point in this season, I root for them against the Cardinals or Seahawks, but seeing them lose still puts a smile on my face. If there was ever a game to go up early and actually not let them back in it, it would be this game. To the links!
