The San Francisco 49ers host Washington this Sunday, and the line is already climbing. The line opened with the 49ers as 7.5-point favorites, but it has climbed to eight points at several sites, and as high as 9.5 at another site. The early point total is set at 44, and considering the 49ers defense, the UNDER is probably going to end up being a decent bet.
The 49ers have put together a 2-game winning streak to improve to 6-4, as they gain ground in the playoff race. Washington has dropped two straight, and have found themselves on a roller coaster season. They are 3-7 coming off an ugly 27-7 loss to a baaaaad Tampa Bay Buccaneers team.
The 49ers have had their share of reports about locker room stuff, but Washington seems to have actual locker room nonsense to deal with each week. Head coach Jay Gruden has had to deal with numerous questions about Robert Griffin III, and how things are going in the locker room. You can check out some of the latest on that over at Hogs Haven. All in all though, it's a bit of a dumpster fire out here in DC!
I'm not entirely sure how high that line will climb. I suppose it could get up to double digits, but I'm not entirely sure how oddsmakers view this game. The 49ers are much better than Washington, but San Francisco has not exactly played like a world beater. They covered this past week against the Giants, but even that was not pretty. They are 6-4 straight up, and 5-5 ATS, although they are 4-2 ATS in their last six. Obviously covering doesn't matter so long as they are winning straight up, but I sure would enjoy a nice blowout win over Washington.
