The San Francisco 49ers return to practice on Tuesday, and they will have four new participants. The team announced Tuesday morning they have activated the practice windows for linebacker NaVorro Bowman, tight end Garrett Celek, offensive lineman Brandon Thomas, and cornerback Keith Reaser. Bowman and Celek are on the PUP list, while Thomas and Reaser are on the NFI list.
The return to practice does not necessarily mean full practice sessions for these players. Jim Harbaugh told the media on Monday that Celek will be able to practice fully. Harbaugh also said that Thomas and Reaser are not going to be full participants. Instead, they will take part in walkthroughs and some basic individual work. The 49ers Tuesday practice session is a walkthrough, so they will be involved in that. Harbaugh said that Bowman falls somewhere between Celek and the two rookies, but did not get any more specific than that.
The 49ers have until December 9 to decide whether or not to activate these four players, and the team will likely take the entire 21 days to decide on Bowman. Thomas and Reaser are not expected to be activated to the 53-man roster, while I have no idea what the plan is for Celek.
The 49ers activated practice windows for fullback Trey Millard and defensive tackle Kaleb Ramsey last Tuesday. The 49ers have until December 2 to make a decision on those two players.
