The San Francisco 49ers and St. Louis Rams released their inactives, and San Francisco will be without Patrick Willis and Tramaine Brock. They were both limited in practice throughout the week, and listed as questionable on Friday. There was a hope both would play, but the 49ers are clearly taking a conservative approach.
Perrish Cox will start in place of Tramaine Brock, with Chris Culliver opposite him, and Jimmie Ward in the slot. Dontae Johnson will see playing time as the dime, with Leon McFadden likely to see some snaps as well.
Brock suffered a turf toe injury back in Week 1, but returned to the starting lineup in Week 7. Since the game, Jim Harbaugh and Vic Fangio have both mentioned that Brock would have been a substitute and not a starter had Chris Culliver and Jimmie Ward been available. It would seem they now would prefer to get him back to 100 percent.
The most interesting one might be Demarcus Dobbs. Tony Jerod-Eddie will be the primary backup on the line, but this could also mean more time for Quinton Dial.
49ers inactives: QB Josh Johnson, WR Quinton Patton, CB Tramaine Brock, LB Patrick Willis, C Dillon Farrell, DL Demarcus Dobbs, DL Tank Carradine
Rams inactives: CB Janoris Jenkins, S Maurice Alexander, S Cody Davis, LB Korey Toomer, OT Brandon Washington, TE Alex Bayer, DL Ethan Westbrooks
