Vic Fangio updates Glenn Dorsey, NaVorro Bowman injury status

The 49ers could be without Glenn Dorsey, as he continues his rehab from the biceps tear that put him on injured reserve. Vic Fangio updated his status, as well as that of NaVorro Bowman.

San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio met with the media Thursday morning, and he provided some injury updates. He was asked specifically about Glenn Dorsey and NaVorro Bowman, and when they might return to action.

Fangio hinted that Dorsey probably will not play this week. He said medically Dorsey has been cleared to play, but he lacks that extra "oomph" to be ready to go. Fangio said Dorsey's status was similar to last week. The 49ers were required to activate him off the injured reserve this week, so they made the move.

My guess is he is inactive on Sunday, and Quinton Dial gets the start once again at nose tackle. Dial had some ups and downs against the Saints, but seemed to improve a bit against the Giants. New York spend a lot of time with 3+ wide receivers, while Washington spends more time with two receivers. Expect more opportunities for Dial this Sunday.

Fangio was asked about if Bowman return to practice next week. He said Bowman has a doctor's appointment on Friday, at which point they will get more feedback. Fangio did not believe Bowman was still feeling pain, but did not seem 100 percent certain. The team has until December 9 to make a decision on getting Bowman back to the 53-man roster.
