Raiders beat Chiefs, game ends in fairly absurd fashion

The San Francisco 49ers travel to face the Oakland Raiders in a couple weeks, and I would say thankfully, the Raiders will not be in search of their first win. The Raiders stunned the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football, winning 24-20. Derek Carr led a great 7:17 drive to put the Raiders on top, and somehow Oakland survived a calamity of errors.

There were two notable moments in the Chiefs final drive, both of which left me laughing. The first was a 4th and 3 at the KC 46. Alex Smith could not find an open receiver, but three separate penalties were called on the Raiders. They were called for a pair of defensive holding penalties, and also an illegal hands to the face.

The Chiefs got another chance, and while the Raiders would stop them on fourth down, it was not before almost blowing it with a ridiculous celebration. On 3rd and 6, the Raiders sacked Alex Smith, and two younger players proceeded to celebrate deep in the Chiefs backfield (see picture above). Of course, Kansas City was attempting to start another play. This would have resulted in an offsides call, but fortunately for Oakland, Justin Tuck called a timeout. The Raiders avoided the penalty, they stopped Alex Smith on 4th down, and they won the game.

It's been a while since I laughed so hard at something so stupid. But hey, the Raiders won and will not be winless when the 49ers travel to the Coliseum. I suppose that's something.
