Good morning everyone. The 49ers will welcome Washington to Levi's tomorrow afternoon where they will try to extend this winning streak to three games. On the surface, Washington is clearly an inferior team, their fans were chanting for Colt McCoy last week so... not good. The 49ers will be without Anthony Davis who suffered a concussion at the end of the Giants game. So look forward to more Jonathan Martin! On the bright side, Washington will be without either of their normal tackles, good news for Aldon Smith and Aaron Lynch.
The unbiased NFL fan in me is really sad to see a Robert Griffin led team in this predicament because his rookie season was one of my favorite performances to watch from a non-49er. I hate the persona he has become with the media, but I loved watching him play, and to see the state he has been in since Seattle broke him in the 2012 playoffs is really sad.
I have trouble putting a ton of faith in the 49ers "beating the teams they should beat" because they have a bad habit of letting inferior teams hang in games entirely too long. The main problems are the lack of ability to sustain drives consistently and scoring in the red zone. It seemed like for a while that the 49ers unimpressive record could be blamed on a broken defense, but those excuses are quickly evaporating into thin air. Yeah, it sucks that the offensive line has had continuity problems all season due to injuries, but Colin Kaepernick needs to be better if the 49ers are going to win the Superbowl. Sure some of his flaws are overstated, but the fact remains, he is too old to still be a "potential" star. Tomorrow afternoon would be a good time to right the ship for the home stretch.
