I'd have to say that James called it when he said, "it's probably going to get worse before it gets better." This performance against the Rams was definitely the "worse". How much more worse depends on the team's ability to bounce back on the road against an up-trending New Orleans Saints next week.
The starting offensive line for this game, assuming they remain healthy, is probably what will be the lead group for the rest of the season. This doesn't give me a lot of confidence considering how they've performed this season, but you have to believe that as they get more practice and games together that some sort of cohesiveness and consistency will develop.
For the 49ers' playoff hopes to stay alive, that has to happen sooner rather than later. This is probably the most inconsistent team Jim Harbaugh has had in his 4 seasons in San Francisco, and it must be as perplexing to him as it is to us fans. We still expect things to improve as star reinforcements return, but the question remains: Will it be enough?
