The San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints released their inactives for Week 10, and as expected, Patrick Willis and Dan Skuta are inactive. They were both unable to participate in practice this week, and listed as questionable heading into the weekend. When players sit out the entire week of practice, they generally do not play. Chris Borland will start in place of Willis, and Aaron Lynch will start in place of Skuta. The 49ers promoted Chase Thomas off the practice squad, and he could see some work alongside Corey Lemonier.
Tank Carradine is active, although it remains to be seen how much playing time he will see. Tony Jerod-Eddie will be the primary backup along the defensive line, and my guess is Quinton Dial is the second backup. Maybe Carradine gets into games in pass rush situations. The 49ers will need some help there to get Brees off his rhythm.
Finally, Tramaine Brock is active. Vic Fangio said the team was hoping to get him into the mix in some sub packages, so look for him to stick to some nickel and dime work.
49ers inactives: QB Josh Johnson, WR Quinton Patton, CB Leon McFadden, S L.J. McCray, LB Dan Skuta, LB Patrick Willis, G/C Dillon Farrell
Saints inactives: RB Pierre Thomas, RB Khiry Robinson, LB David Hawthorne, WR Robert Meachem, DB Stanley Jean-Baptiste, OT Nick Becton, C/G Eric Olsen
