The San Francisco 49ers released their final injury report for Week 15, and there is a bit of a surprise. The team ruled out wide receiver Stevie Johnson due to a knee injury that cost him the full week of practice. His absence leaves the 49ers wide receiver corps with Anquan Boldin, Michael Crabtree, Brandon Lloyd, Quinton Patton, Bruce Ellington and Kassim Osgood.
It is hard to tell who specifically will benefit from Johnson's absence. Lloyd has been getting a lot of work this season, frequently getting more snaps than Johnson. However, he was inactive last week, appearing to be a healthy scratch. Quinton Patton was active in his place, and got 12 snaps. Johnson's absence could mean more work for Patton or Ellington. Or it could just mean Lloyd will be active again and get the bulk of the snaps after Boldin and Crabtree. Nothing would really surprise me at this point.
Marcus Martin and Chris Culliver are both listed as questionable. Culliver seems the more likely option to play, but we probably will not know for certain on either until game day inactives are released Sunday afternoon.
