I spent much of Saturday in a panic after reading ... an article here on Niners Nation. More accurately, I spent the latter half of yesterday in a panic after reading a single word here on Niners Nation. That word was "Mangini," and I initially thought that this post from your benevolent overlord, Fooch, might actually contain some kind of actual, factual rumor that Eric Mangini could take over as the head coach if and when Jim Harbaugh leaves town.
Needless to say, I immediately panicked and was reduced to sobbing and rocking back and forth under my desk. I cannot think of a worse potential outcome for this team than to eventually settle on Mangini as head coach (I'd be fine with Jim Nobody from Nowhere, for the record). Fortunately, such a thing is not actually rumored. I'm just pessimistic and terribly insecure.
Hey, speaking of pessimism and insecurity, the 49ers will take on the Seattle Seahawks today! Obviously, most people are expecting a beatdown, though I suspect the 49ers are exactly the kind of team who will do something silly like put up 40 points today just to frustrate everybody even more. Whatever the case, let's root and hope we see positives from most of the young guys and all of that.
Onto the links. Go Niners!
