Frank Gore suffers concussion, ruled OUT by 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers await word on the return of running back Frank Gore. He suffered a head injury in the second quarter against the Seattle Seahawks, and is questionable to return.

Fooch's Update: Frank Gore is OUT for rest of game with a concussion, per Erin Andrews.

San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore has gone back to the locker room following an injury late in the second quarter. The 49ers announced Gore is questionable to return due to a head injury.

Gore engaged in a block on a pass to Bruce Miler, and then went down in a heap. He looked to be in pain, as the trainers came out to look at hime. He eventually walked off the field and looked to be in decent shape. The trainers continued looking at him before jogging back to the locker room. There is speculation he knocked himself out on the block, but nobody knows for certain.

Gore is likely going through the in-game concussion protocol to figure out if he can return. The 49ers will head into the locker room shortly, and we'll likely find out fairly quickly after halftime. In the meantime, Carlos Hyde will handle running back duties.
