Titans vs. Jaguars brings us worst prime time game in NFL history

Week 16 of the 2014 NFL season is upon us, and the NFL has managed to open it with what I am pretty sure is the worst primetime matchup in NFL history. I suppose we could look at one-sided matchups as awful as well, but I don't recall the last time two teams were this bad. Both teams are 2-12, and a top-four pick likely hangs in the balance for the loser.

The Jaguars opened as a field goal favorite, and the line has climbed to either 3.5- or four points depending on your sports book of choice. It is a notable line because it is the first time in 42 games the Jaguars have been a favorite. The last time it happened was in September 2012. The Jaguars have been pretty bad for a while, but that still seems like a crazy number of games as an underdog.

These are two of the worst teams to combine for a prime time matchup, but I do wonder how awful the game will be. If it was a one-sided matchup, with one of them playing at Denver, or something like that, I could see an ugly game. But maybe having two awful teams will create something fun. I'm not holding my breath, but at the very least, we could look at this in a Sharknado sort of way. For those that did not see either of the Sharknado movies, they blew up on social media entirely because of how awful they were. Maybe we see that tonight when these two teams face off.
