49ers-Chargers inactives: Frank Gore active, Ahmad Brooks, Joe Looney inactive

The 49ers and Chargers released their inactives. We run down the full lists.

The San Francisco 49ers and San Diego Chargers released their inactives, and as expected, the 49ers have plenty of injured bodies missing Saturday's game. The team will welcome back Marcus Martin to the starting lineup. He was out with a knee injury last week, but will be back in place of Joe Looney. The 49ers went so far as to deactivate Joe Looney, who struggled in Week 15 against the Seahawks. Looney seemed healthy this week, so this does not exactly bode well for his long-term future. Dillon Farrell will be Marcus Martin's backup, and likely get a little bit of work as an extra lineman.

The big name inactive is Ahmad Brooks. He is dealing with a thumb injury, so his absence means more playing time for Dan Skuta and Aaron Lynch. Skuta got the start at outside linebacker two weeks ago when Brooks was benched, with Lynch coming in on nickel situations. We'll see if it's the same this week, or if Lynch moves back into the starting lineup. The 49ers got Lynch some starting work during Aldon Smith's absence, and he seemed to do well with it.

Frank Gore is active, as expected, and will get the start. Alfonso Smith and Phillip Tanner might spell him on occasion, but I think Gore ends up getting most of the work with Carlos Hyde inactive.

49ers inactives: QB Josh Johnson, WR Stevie Johnson, CB Tramaine Brock, RB Carlos Hyde, LB Ahmad Brooks, G Andrew Tiller and G Joe Looney.

Chargers inactives: RB Ryan Mathews, WR Keenan Allen, P Mike Scifres, DT Damion Square, CB Greg Ducre, NT Ryan Carrethers, OLB Cordarro Law
