The San Francisco 49ers host the Arizona Cardinals this weekend to wrap up the 2014 regular season, and the 49ers are currently a touchdown favorite. The line actually opened with the 49ers as 3.5-point favorites, but it quickly climbed to between six and seven points.
The Cardinals are currently tied for first with the Seahawks, but Seattle claimed the tiebreaker due to their head-to-head sweep of Arizona. The Cardinals can win the division with a win over San Francisco, and a Seahawks home loss to the Rams. Bruce Arians spoke with 49ers media on Wednesday, and he was pretty blunt about his plans. He said he would be keeping an eye on the scoreboard, and if the Seahawks took a sizable lead, he would consider adjusting his own game plan. Basically, that would seem to mean he will consider resting starters if the situation presented itself.
The 49ers have numerous injuries on their roster, and it will be interesting to see who ends up sitting out this finale. Eric Reid (concussion) and Perrish Cox (A/C joint) are two guys who very well could sit out the season finale. Craig Dahl would start in Reid's place, and Dontae Johnson would start in Cox's place.
I have to make my choices on SuperContest picks, and it is safe to say I will not be touching this game. The 49ers are tumbling right now, but who knows what the Cardinals will do with their starters much of this game. They are rolling out Logan Thomas at quarterback, so it is hard to figure out what to expect from them. I don't even know what to think of them as a playoff team.
