What do you want to see from the 49ers on Sunday?

The 49ers have one last game this season. With the playoffs out of sight, what would you like to see from the team?

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

It is upon us: the last game of the season. And, though we've had a nice run these last few years, it still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth that the 49ers are bowing out in December rather than in January. Egos clashed; Tight Ends disappeared; O-lines played porous. The list goes on and on (I could mention QB play, injuries, WR play, etc.). But, here we are at the end. One last game.

So, what do you want to see in this game? What are we hoping that the 49ers do?

I, for one, want to see the 49ers shut down Ryan Lindley. This should be a given. He's not a very good QB, and he should be slim-pickings for a 49ers defense that has been incredibly stingy in the secondary all year, even with numerous injuries. This is a sort of "given." Ryan Lindley should be ineffective against the 49ers.

Yet, the "given" has been the downfall of the 49ers all season. I think, for example, that most of us simply marked down the Raiders game as a "W" before the season even started. Then, as the Raiders continued to be, well, the Raiders for the majority of the season, it become increasingly likely that the 49ers would win. I don't think I need to remind anybody how that worked out.

So, I'd like to see this team end the season by doing what they are supposed to do (at least on the defensive side of the ball - I don't know about you guys, but I've just given up on the offense). I want to see Aldon Smith and Aaron Lynch collapsing a pocket or getting around a Tackle before sneaking up on Lindley from behind. I want to see some aggressive, yet smart, coverage from the secondary, especially since they won't have Eric Reid. I'd even like to see LBs remembering to cover their guys, especially RBs who swing out into the flat.

What about you guys? What are you looking for this game? As the 49ers end the season (hopefully with more of a bang than a whimper) what would you like them to do as they start looking toward next season.

And, for the record, somebody better say "get Frank Gore his 1,000 yards," because that dude deserves it.
