Week 17 AM features draft implications, AFC wild card determination

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers kick off their season finale at 1:25 p.m. PT, and so we get to enjoy some morning football. The NFL plays the entire 16-game schedule on Sunday, so we get a full slate of action throughout the day. It's a great schedule, and if you find yourself clipping over to Red Zone during the 49ers game, I would not entirely blame you with the afternoon slate.

For the morning though, it features some big matchups. The final AFC playoff spot will be determined as all the pertinent parties are playing. The Chargers travel to face the Chiefs, the Ravens host the Browns and the Texans host the Jaguars. The breakdown for that final AFC wild card berth is as follows:

1. Chargers are in the playoffs with a win over the Chiefs
2. Ravens are in with a win + Chargers loss/tie or Ravens tie + Charger loss
3. Chiefs are in the playoffs with a win over the Chargers + Ravens loss + Texans loss or tie
4. Texans are in with win + Ravens loss + Chargers loss

There is also plenty for the 49ers own draft implications. If the Browns win and the 49ers lose, the 49ers will move up a spot in the draft order. I'm not holding my breath, but we can dream, right?
