I get off my computer for like twenty minutes to get in a little Tetris and I come back to everyone and their mom talking about whether or not Jim Harbaugh should be coaching today's game against the Arizona Cardinals. Of course he should, I thought ... until I caught up with the rest of you and realized that Harbaugh to Michigan is a done deal. At this point, I imagine Michigan told him that they've made their offer and it's now or never, and Harbaugh quickly agreed.
So yes, the discussion as to whether or not Harbaugh should coach today is worth having. It's also worth ending, rather abruptly: absolutely not. He's moved on, so the 49ers need to move on post haste, and what better way to do so than give Jim Tomsula the lead once again, to see how he handles things.
For me, the Harbaugh era ends with a whimper and a whole lot of disappointment. I think the team would be better off if he'd stay, but with him going, it's easy to focus on the short-comings and I'm eager to move on. Let's get a win over the Cardinals today -- for whoever the heck is coaching. Draft positioning be damned.
