Greg Roman expected to go to Michigan with Jim Harbaugh, according to one report

For those wondering what would happen with OC Greg Roman, early indications are that he will head to Michigan with Jim Harbaugh.

Fooch's Update: Roman did not go to Michigan. He has since interviewed for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator opening, and the Buffalo Bills requested permission to interview him for their head coach vacancy.

An early report indicates that San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman is expected to join Jim Harbaugh as his OC at the University of Michigan. The report comes from Gregg Henson, who is a Pittsburgh radio guy, but also a Michigan guy.

I'd take it with a grain of salt for now, but it would not be a surprising development. I don't think anybody expected Roman to stick around with Jim Harbaugh's departure. There has been speculation Harbaugh's loyalty to Roman was a problem for Jed York and Trent Baalke. Whether that is true remains to be seen, but the offense's struggles this year made his departure all but inevitable.

Harbaugh is expected to also be joined by defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin. Eric Branch reported last night Vic Fangio would not join Harbaugh at his next destination, and had expressed interest in the 49ers head coach job. The rest of the 49ers staff reportedly met with Trent Baalke this morning, but we have no word on their status. Matt Maiocco suggested Tom Rathman and Mike Solari could stick around, but obviously some of this will depend on who gets the coaching job.
