Golden Nuggets: And He Is Gone

Tuesday, December 30th, 2014 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from the Internet

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The day that Niner fans have feared came and went. Jim Harbaugh was let go as the head coach. The man that took a 6-10 team and nearly took them to a Super Bowl in his 1st year as coach if it weren't for Kyle Williams' punt turnovers. Then proceeded to take them to the Super Bowl a year after and then back to the NFC title game after that. He was let go for no specific football reasons. Imagine being so good at your job and being let go because management didn't get along with you. That is what happened to Jim. He was so good at his job, but because he is a hard person to get along with he was let go. Great job Jed. Genius decision.

The Niners are thrust into uncertainty after Jim's dismissal. A few candidates have been talked about already. They are good football coaches, but who knows how they will be as head coaches. But we knew how Jim was as a head coach. He was a winner. The team that had the dark ages of Dennis Erickson, Mike Nolan, and Mike Singletary found a coach that brought back a winning tradition to the Niners organization. And he is let go because of politics and not results. That means that the Niners organization doesn't care about winning. They can't, right? All Jim did was win. He has won everywhere he has coached.

The fans will back any coach the Niners choose because we love the team. But we are not happy, Jed. You let go of a great coach. You better hope you find a Bill Walsh type coach with the next guy you bring in. But that could be the guy you just fired!
