Greg Roman could interview with Tampa Bay Buccaneers for offensive coordinator

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

It sounds like San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman might be drumming up some interest for work. The Tampa Bay Times is reporting the Bucs are expected to request an interview with Roman, along with a handful of other candidates.

The Bucs opened the season with former Cal coach Jeff Tedford as their OC. He took a leave of absence to take care of some health issues, and then was let out of his contract in December to pursue other opportunities. He recently took over as head coach of the BC Lions in the CFL. Tedford was replaced on an interim basis by QB coach Marcus Arroyo.

There was a report earlier this week that Roman was going to follow Jim Harbaugh up to Michigan. That came from a Pittsburgh radio guy who also blogs about Michigan. There has been no further confirmation on this report, but it seems likely that Roman will be departing at some point. There has been no word on if he has been fired or released from his contract yet, but as the 49ers figure out their own new coaching staff, we will likely hear word sooner rather than later.
