Fooch's Update: 49ers lost

The San Francisco 49ers head back on the road in Week 14, although it is barely a road trip. The 7-5 49ers will travel up the road to Oakland to face the 1-11 Raiders in a rare matchup for the Bay Area rivals. They have not played a preseason game since 2011, and have not played a regular season game since 2010. The series is tied 6-6 since it first began in 1970.

The 49ers head into this game with serious question marks on offense as they look to keep their playoff hopes alive. It all must start with a win on Sunday against a Raiders team coming off an ugly loss to the St. Louis Rams. Although the Raiders looked awful in that loss, they had been looking pretty decent prior to that. They secured their first win of the season with a Thursday Night Football upset of the Kansas City Chiefs, but they had shown some signs off and on in the weeks leading up to the win. They are not a good team, but they have enough positives that they can be dangerous.

The Week 14 matchup kicks off at 1:25 p.m. PT on FOX. This will be an entirely regional broadcast, airing only in Northern California and western Nevada. The broadcast crew will include Chris Myers and Ronde Barber in the booth, and Jennifer Hale on the sideline. You can view additional broadcast info HERE. If you live abroad, you can watch the game on NFL Game Pass.

The 49ers are a sizable favorite, with lines ranging from eight to 9.5-points. A win does not guarantee anything, but it at least keeps them in the playoff hunt before their Week 15 game up in Seattle. A win is a win at this point, but if they struggle against the Raiders, I don't think anybody will be overly optimistic heading up to Seattle. I'll take whatever I can get at this point, but it really would be nice to see the 49ers handle their business against Oakland in emphatic fashion.
