The San Francisco 49ers travel to face the Seattle Seahawks, looking to keep their slim playoff hopes alive for at least one more week. Whatever happens on Sunday, it is likely going to be in front of a good portion of the country. The game airs on FOX at 1:25 p.m. PT, and is the national game of the week. That means it will feature the broadcast crew of Joe Buck, Troy Aikman and Erin Andrews.
The 49ers could still have a shot at the playoffs with a loss, but their best shot at claiming an unexpected berth would start with a win over Seattle. Of course, that also requires they figure out something on offense. The 49ers offense has been abysmal, and the defense clearly cannot do enough to keep this team in it against good teams. The Seahawks offense can be inconsistent, but their defense is starting to round into form. That does not bode well for Colin Kaepernick and company.
The folks at 506sports.com will have the full broadcast maps on Wednesday, but it is safe to say this game will air in a majority of the country. The only other FOX game is Vikings-Lions, so if you are in either of those markets, you will not get 49ers-Seahawks. But if you are anywhere else, you likely will get 49ers-Seahawks. Whether the Seahawks deliver the coup de grâce, or the 49ers somehow pull out a miracle at CenturyLink Field, it will be there for much of the world to see. I suppose it is fitting either way.
