Well, that was one heck of a busy first day of free agency! The San Francisco 49ers were incredibly busy, busier than I ever would have guessed. The team has made Day 1 moves in the past, but in the Harbaalke era, I don't recall this much, this quickly.
Things came so quickly, we're all still processing it. The 49ers made eight total transactions. I've listed them below based on how we posted on them. That leaves the Rogers/Dobbs/Wilhoite transactions all combined together.
1. K Phil Dawson signing a 2-year deal
2. S Antoine Bethea signing 4-year deal
3. QB Blaine Gabbert acquired for 6th round pick
4. Carlos Rogers released, Demarcus Dobbs/Michael Wilhoite tendered
5. Eric Wright signs 1-year deal
6. Jonathan Martin acquired for conditional 2015 7th round pick
This is more of an open thread for discussion, but I've included a poll at the bottom. Feel free to rate on a scale of 1 to 10 how you feel about today's work by the 49ers. 1 is "the worst" and 10 is "the best". Obviously this is incredibly scientific.
Tomorrow, we'll be back with plenty more coverage. We'll have some salary cap analysis, and some Antoine Bethea film breakdown. We'll have more on the 49ers remaining free agents, and we'll have some thoughts from opposing team's bloggers about the 49ers additions today. All in all, it should be a fun-filled day of free agency madness.
