Pro days continue today with Alabama State, Auburn, Buffalo, Northwestern, Purdue, Slippery Rock, and SMU.
Auburn leads the way today with four-five prospects likely to be drafted. DE/OLB Dee Ford will be looking to show off his tremendous athleticism as he was advised not to compete at last week's combine. I expect Ford to post some impressive numbers which could seal his first round draft status.
Greg Robinson the massive 6-5, 332lb tackle is the top player on my draft board. His combination of power and athleticism are second to none.
Buffalo's talented OLB/DE Khalil Mack reportedly ran an impressive 4.45-forty at his pro day today. With a likely destination in the top 10 and no real need for pass rusher it's extremely unlikely the 49ers trade up for Mack. It is worth noting that 49ers director of player personnel Joel Patten was at the Buffalo Pro Day.
Eastern Illinois QB Jimmy Garoppolo is projected as an early day two prospect and held private workouts in conjunction with Northwestern's pro day. Teams that passed on a QB in the first may trade up in the second to grab the talented QB from Tony Romo's Alma Mater. His quick release and football acumen have impressed scouts looking for a two-three year project at quarterback. Garoppolo is working out today at Northwestern but he second round projection is probably too rich for the 49ers. However, we did hear today that Jim Harbaugh himself was on hand to check out Garoppolo in a private workout.
With the exception of the possibility some late round defensive backs from Auburn or Purdue, I don't see any of today's participants having a real shot to land with the 49ers.
Tomorrow's pro day's include: Arkansas, Central Michigan, Fordham, Mississippi State, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Texas A&M, and Wisconson.
